Avenue, born James Fitzpatrick, 25, effortlessly relays his street narratives over Cooking To Kill’s deft production while his city provides the backdrop gloriously bathed in vibrant streetlights and the falling night rain. Directed by FTB and shot by Jose Rodriguez, ‘Party’s Over (Ringing Off)’ brings us back to a time where rap videos were cinematic extensions of the music.
As the northeast winter approaches, the streets take on a far more ominous tone. The black and white clip captures that feeling while enhancing the song’s haunting melody as Avenue navigates through the Lower Roxbury and South End neighborhoods, Boston’s equivalent to the environments portrayed in HBO’s “The Wire” and UK’s “Top Boy”, as well as the city’s gritty Chinatown.
Avenue’s upcoming project Mass Ave & Lenox is coming soon and features Royce 5 9, Smoke Dza and label mates Deon Chase, Ariez Onasis & Prano.
